Product Overview

PMI foam is a closed-cell, fully cross-linked polymer foam produced in a range of densities. Its fine, uniform cell structure delivers high compressive strength and creep resistance at low density, and it withstands processing temperatures and pressures beyond standard PVC and SAN foams, making it compatible with autoclave-cured prepreg and elevated-temperature infusion. The foam machines, thermoforms, and bonds cleanly. Grades are selected by density and temperature rating to match each part’s process window.

PMI foam core is a polymethacrylimide structural foam offering the highest stiffness and compressive strength per unit weight among polymer foams, combined with heat resistance that survives autoclave and out-of-autoclave cure cycles. Key Advantages

Versus PVC and SAN foams, PMI can deliver roughly double the compressive strength at equal density and holds that strength at autoclave curing temperatures, so parts cure at higher pressure without core crushing.
