Recently, “New Pearl 6”, which was constructed by Guangdong Zhongwei Composites Co., Ltd. and inspected by China Classification Society (CCS), was successfully delivered and will be put into operation in Hong Kong.Intelligent automatic switching between diesel and electric propulsion modes has been realized!
The “New Pearl 6” is 44.75 meters in length and 11 meters in width, with a maximum capacity of 500 passengers. The ship is made of advanced carbon fiber high-tech materials. It has the advantages of light weight, corrosion resistance and low noise. It is the first carbon fiber hybrid high-speed passenger ship in Asia. Obtained CCS Hybrid additional mark.
The ship is equipped with two propulsion modes: diesel and battery, two power battery compartments, two main diesel engines, two gearboxes, two axle generators and two water jet propellers.
In diesel propulsion mode, the diesel engine drives the water jet propellers and the shaft belt generator through the gearbox. In this case the shaft belt generator can charge the ship’s power battery. The ship’s service speed is 26 knots. In battery propulsion mode, the shaft belt generator is used as a propulsion motor. The power battery drives the water jet propeller through the propulsion motor and gearbox. The ship’s service speed is 10 knots at this time.
As “New Pearl 6” carries two sets of power sources of diesel engine and power battery which can independently propel the water jet device, during the construction and delivery of the ship, CCS Guangzhou Audit and Drawing Center, together with CCS Guangzhou Branch, has held technical discussions with the shipbuilding company for many times.
